This book came out many years ago and helped define a key tenet of my philosophy on career development: being selfish.
The book’s premise is that the lifelong employment model is outdated, but our communication about careers hasn’t evolved. Instead of pretending otherwise, companies and employees should explicitly state their desires and expectations and create a contract for a period of time, with both parties working to get what they want out of the engagement.
